Should I be so bold as to call it a New Feature?
I've decided to dedicate Fridays to the monetizing side of things - I've become so fond of blogging, memes and generally chatting with all you good people out there, that I've neglected that part for a long time... Not that I regret it, I've learned

something new every single day since I embarked on this adventure, and gotten to "know" many great folks - long may that continue!

Upwards Friday won't only be about monetizing, but also about rank-improving, which I've learnt is both A & Z if you want to get anywhere. I knew nothing of Alexa, for instance, and thought that it would rank your blog according to traffic, regardless... Wrong.
I downloaded the Alexa Toolbar, and Hey, Presto, jumped up 100.000 places in Alexa ranking overnight...
So there's a ranking system that needs to be looked into. I still know nothing about Alexa, you see!!! Google Page Rank lives its own life, too, totally unperturbed by me - and that is soooo sad...

Technorati is another one, and I've made a start on that today, thanks to DoshDosh's Technorati Favorites Exchange and Garry Conn.com's Technorati Most Favorited Blogs - both of which I found thanks to RT at Untwisted Vortex.
Both of these are parts of the same experiment - how much can you increase your ranking by favorites exchange - i.e. "you favorite me, I favorite you". Garry Conn's system is also semi-automated, so you just have to go through the tedious bit of favoriting the existing list once, and then you'll get the urls of the blogs that join after you by email, and can add them as they turn up. (They will have favorited you already). You may even find some favorites among them - I certainly will get back to quite a few! A win/win situation, as far as I can see, for everyone involved.
I joined today, and will post any development in that area next Friday... DoshDosh also has a list of other blogs that do similar exchanges.

Both DoshDosh and Garry Conn.com also have scores of tips and tricks, for anyone who wants to try their hand at making some extra cash. Some for the more savvy Internet Marketers out there, but some can be implemented quite easily by an Internet Dummy like me, and I'll see what their combined knowledge can do for me in the weeks to come.

So - Upwards Friday will be a recurring phenomenon on this blog, where I comment on tips I've come across, some I will have tested, some not. Even though some of them may be old news to many of you, it will all be news to me... and I'm sure there are many like me out there.
